Make it no bigger than 20cm x 28cm so it fits on A3 transparencies. The higher the resolution the finer the image, lower resolutions, eg 72 dpi, look blurry. Make it Pure Black & White: - Select Image / Mode / Greyscale and choose Yes to discard the colour information. Select Image / Mode / Bitmap and choose Yes to Flatten layers. When prompted to set the output resolution, make it the same as the input resolution. Select either the 'Halftone' or '50% Threshold' method: a. 'Halftone Method' - this uses small black dots to create an optical illusion of shades of grey. Set the Frequency, Angle and Shape of the dots:- Frequency: play around but choose something less than 40 lines per inch for a t-shirt screen. Angle: any number will do for a one colour design. Shape: choose Ellipse. OR b. '50% Threshold Method' - this looks graphic and the image changes to blob shapes (you may need to undo and go back and play with the contrast to get the right amount of detail). Save the File:- Save the file in .pdf format and email it to cath.t.tempest@gmail.com one week before your workshop. HAND DRAWN IMAGES Keep the image within an area of 20cm x 28cm. Draw your image on white paper using solid black ink eg paint pens (POSCAs are good, not Sharpies or pencil). Drop in your image to TASS one week before your workshop.
